The Compressed Gas Association (CGA) has once again called for the sale of the Federal Helium Reserve System (FHR) to be delayed, expressing concerns about potential disruptions in the US helium supply chain. The reserve contributes 20% of the US helium supply and is set to be sold to a private buyer, and the CGA highlights critical infrastructure dependencies, regulatory compliance challenges, and operational risks as key concerns. The sale, if not adequately addressed, could impact vital sectors such as healthcare, semiconductor manufacturing, defence, aerospace, and research. The CGA has urged the White House to intervene and delay the sale to address these deficiencies. The bid deadline is tomorrow and bids are due to be opened a couple of days later.
