Chapman Hydrogen, a Calgary-based natural hydrogen engineering and exploration firm, discussed the differences and difficulties that persist between hydrocarbon and hydrogen drilling. Due to hydrogen's reactive nature, the materials used for drilling oil and enhancing reservoir pressure may end up clogging pathways for hydrogen migration. Even after discovering hydrogen accumulations, drilling at an incorrect angle can cause hydrogen to escape and quickly deplete the reservoir.
