Chinese Imports Recover in May'24 (+25% over last-3-months)

Chinese imports in May'24 increased by 25%, after being subdued over the previous three months. Primarily, there has been recovery from Qatar, which has risen to 54mmcf in May (+40% versus the last-three-months). US imports also increased to 5mmcf in May'24, nearing the 2023 average of 7mmcf/m. Russian imports, on the other hand, have fallen to 24mmcf in May’24 (-7% over the last-three-months) after peaking at 31mmcf in Mar'24. This signals that the ramp-up of Amur has stalled. Overall, YTD, Chinese imports are down 1% y/y. Pricing for all regions falls within the US$400-700/mcf range with the US being the most expensive.
