Indian helium imports have bounced back after suppressed volumes in the first 4 months of the year, as it struggled to source enough helium. Although YTD May '23 imports have fallen 11% y/y, if we compare the first 4 months' average (Jan'23-Apr'23), May ’23 helium imports have increased 68% and compared to Apr'23, imports have doubled. Pricing has touched record levels of US$646/mcf in May'22, which has taken the YTD average price to US$600/mcf (+60% y/y). India's space programme undertook a rocket launch in July, which may explain higher volumes sourced in May.
