The Government of Saskatchewan has introduced two new critical minerals incentive programmes, the Critical Minerals Processing Investment Incentive (CMPII) and the Saskatchewan Critical Minerals Innovation Incentive (SCMII), aimed at driving investment and innovation in the province's critical minerals industry, including helium. These programmes offer substantial financial incentives to attract investment, with the CMPII providing transferable Crown royalty and freehold production tax credits valued at 15% of eligible project costs for projects investing a minimum of C$10mm. Similarly, the SCMII offers a 25% tax credit for innovation projects with a minimum investment of C$1mm. These incentives are part of Saskatchewan's broader strategy to double its critical minerals production by 2030. The largest producer by far in Saskatchewan is North American Helium and there are several other smaller helium E&P companies.
