Since Renergen has begun drilling for the Virginia Gas Project's Phase 1, there have been a number of developments. The gas is migrating through 2 major faults with a helium concentration of up to 12%, which is higher than the earlier estimates. The sandstone is stratified with siltstone and coal, but cannot be accessed efficiently with horizontal drilling. The future development plan will include inclined drilling to access the zones of high porosity and permeability.
